Definition: QuantumFilm
An image sensor technology from InVisage, Menlo Park, California. Announced in 2010, QuantumFilm is continuous analog film that derives its name from the nano-sized quantum dots that are deposited on silicon. The circuits in a lower layer scan the film at varying resolutions, depending on the requirements. QuantumFilm provides greater resolution and dynamic range than the standard CMOS sensors used in digital cameras.
