Definition: semiconductor IP

(semiconductor Intellectual Property) Proprietary hardware circuit designs that are licensed for use in various chips. Semiconductor IP is typically employed in application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) or field programmable gate array (FPGA) chips. An "IP block" is an individual function or circuit.
